A tornado of love and kindness by Raghav Goel

A tornado of love and kindness

Leaves not a path of destruction

But a path of reconstruction

Building relationships along the way

And causes love and play

Gift - giving and help too that's what you get

From a thing you cannot forget

So when you see this type of storm

You know it’s a swarm

Of kindness coming your way

Birthday by Lucy Dreher

Grab the cake, grab the candles.
Blow up the balloons.

You’re 1 then 5,
6 and 9, you grow up so fast.

12 then 14,
17 and 20, a girlfriend you’ve got yourself now.
24 and don’t forget 30,
32 and 36.
Today is your birthday, 37 year old.

But wait, where are you, father of mine.
I’ve been waiting for hours telling this poem.

Now Friday and Saturday,
Sunday then Monday, come back please!
Tuesday and Wednesday, Thursday then Friday.

Oh Hi! Happy birthday!

War is an eternal blizzard
Cold snow of pain swirling everywhere
Hurting everyone
Tears like sharp diamonds
Dangerous ice trapping everyone involved in fear
And everyone is involved

Lost in this freezing mess we have made of our world

Earth by Peyton Vincent

Earth so big and round and blue
Full of green, purple, red, and yellow too
Different cultures from all around
Will never ever make you frown
Earth so big and round and blue how I love you

What Should Writers Write With? by Genevieve Cadwell

They should Get A Bag
With Everything In It Galore
Choosing The Color
They Could Take It Around all Summer.

But What should Writers Put In It
That’s A Mighty Good Question You Asked.

Let’s Personalize It
Yes That Would Be Nice
But Don’t Forget Your utensils

We’ll Need Pencils And Pens
And some sticky Notes
But Don’t Forget
The Most Important Of Them all

Some Notebooks Would be Grand
And Any Other Tool You Could Think Of

This Bag Of Wonder
Serves To Be Quite Right
But Shows A True Thing Yes

A Writer Needs A Lot To Write
And Let’s Not even Start With Ideas……...

Tornado of Thought by Ian Rash

I am a tornado of colorful thought
My thoughts take flight
And on wings of air soar into the night
Some get their wings clipped and stay with me
But others are sometimes let free
They all have a purpose and each a unique shade
Sometimes they take on a different color than when they were made
Through words they multiply and take on new forms

The world of thoughts is a world of storms

Poetry by Sarah Rash

SELL THE STARS

We reached for the stars
Always aiming, shooting far
Always building  higher
But now we’re selling the earth to the highest paying buyer
And if they change the world, make us a ghost?
Oh, well they paid the most
As we sell the stars instead of reaching for them
Our hopes and dreams start to dim
And when we realize what we’ve done
Too late they’re gone, and now there’s none
We have to use the ideas that we have left
To stop this outrageous theft
We have to take the stars back
And make up for their lack
By striving to learn
Our passionate flames can still burn
History should not be assembled
By every time our world trembled
History should not be about
All of our doubts
History should not be defined
By all the times our leaders were blind
So keep what you’ve got
Before our world ends and rots

BEAR

I once saw a little bear
Eating honey in a chair
The small bear jumped up
And with no hold-up
His honey fell in his hair!

HERCULES

Hercules smells like a zoo
One day he ate my kazoo
Whenever he growls
He sounds like an owl

Just waiting to hoot who-who

Misunderstood by Genevieve Cadwell

Tears of sadness, confusing, misunderstood,
Your favorite sweatshirt. The one with the yellow hood,

All your stuff is gone.
You’ve nowhere to go,
Ut your memories, The sad ones, Not good,

Are lost, Gone forever,  Just like the yellow hood,

It lifted a weight off your shoulders,

Is it for the best?  Or better yet ,

A whole new world to come

So what it comes down to now,
Is an important question indeed,

Are tears Good or Bad
Or simply,

Misunderstood.

Defy Fear by Lucas Weidner

Fear is a wall that holds back us all.
Fear is a room, dark and small.
Fear is a lock with seemingly no key,
Smothering success for you and me.

If we listened to fear then what would we be?
How could have we progressed to our current society?
The answer is simple, needless to say,
We wouldn’t be where we are here today.

It’s because of those who step up to fear,
Who challenge it, overcome it, but they need no spear.
All they needed is confidence, bravery and the willingness to try.
They are the ones who don’t watch the days fly by.
They are the people that do things today,
That aren’t afraid of fear and tell it to get out of the way.

That is why we have progressed,

And will it be you who progresses us next?

Drowning by Peyton Vincent

She stands alone in the corner
The other kids laugh and play
She is huddled in her cloud of sadness
She can feel herself getting smaller
The other kids pay no mind
She is decaying, dying inside slowly sinking
The other kids are happy and healthy

She is in pain, agony now drowning in the ocean of the world
There are no lifeguards there to save her
No life jackets
She is fully consumed in the weight of the water
She drowned, she’s gone

Goodbyes by Peyton Vincent

Goodbyes a hard thing to do
Especially if they’re very close to you
Whether they move away or are out on the bay
Your day may feel very gray

Goodbyes are a hard thing to do

The Runaway Bucket by Tvisha Talwar

Once there was an ordinary bucket
This was until lightning struck it
Then it sprouted two feet,
And then it ran away down the street

And this is the story of the bucket

Worth the Climb by Lucas Weidner

Leaving you shivering in the dark,
A mountain of obstacles looming and stark.
A seemingly impossible and endless climb,
One that would take all too much too much time.

If only you could see the other side,
Where golden light and success reside,
If only you could see it was worth the climb,

But that’s just why you have to try.

Tornado of life by Kali Sura

The tornado of life had me in its clutches. Memories of good and bad times swirled and twisted around me.

The bottomless pit of time drags me into its depths as I struggle helplessly I see yet some help in the ups and downs of life.

The up and downs of life look on with sadness as if they want to help me but just can’t. Still I struggle as they watch me as motionless as a rock.

The times of despair and sorrow linger and taunt me. The hard and unjust times threaten to drown me as I fight them helplessly.

The anger and fear overwhelm me as I try to keep them at bay. Alas I lose and down I’m pulled into the tornado’s heart.

Then when it looks like all is lost out of the bottomless pit of time and life, there comes the memories of happiness and joy.

Free from the tornado of life at last I look upon my future and promise myself never to go back.

The New Mayor by Tvisha Talwar

Yesterday, we got a new mayor in town
The mayor in town was wearing a gown
It was a very silly sight to see,
Until she coldly stared at me
She said how dare you laugh at my gown
And she was  wearing an icy mean frown
So I pleaded, forgive me please
And that seemed to put her at ease
Then she put on a white shining crown,

What an odd mayor we have here in town!
